The next stop on my Iceland was a lava field. I found this one on the way to the Blue Lagoon, but all of Iceland is covered in these. Iceland is a volcano on top of volcano, churning out fields of these black jagged rocks. The whole of the Icelandic landscape looks like it’s not from planet Earth. But the part about it is that it’s covered in a thick carpet of this fluffy green moss. And it’s softer than my bed. So soft in fact that my compulsion to lie down and roll around in it was completely unstoppable.
Next time you are driving past a moss field, pull over and feel how soft it is. And before you ask, yes it was cold wearing only a t-shirt. In mid November. In the land of ice. But the more time you spend in Iceland the more acclimatised to get to the weather. And after my trip to the Blue Lagoon I was strolling out of there in a pencil dress.
