I’ve been conquring new heights, and my fear of them, with this latest visit to one of my favourite spots and the heart of Paris – Arc de Triomphe. All of the streets converge at this spot and the disicts of Paris spiral out form here.

It’s well worth the queue, especially on a cloudy day when taking pictures up there is an absolute dream. All the tones come out butter soft, and you can see all of Paris laid out in front of you. It’s also my top recommendation for a Paris first-timer. You get to tick off a major tourist spot, see all of Paris and having seen everything from up high you can spend the rest of your stay being able to navigate around like a local. Well, almost. GPS still doesn’t hurt.
