City of London, or just City, or the Square Mile, is London's financial district. I used to work here for a few years and since then it has always felt like home. It is one of London's most historic corners, full of little cobble-stoned streets, church yards and buildings with a rich history. I like it for the same reason most people don't: it's completely dead over the weekend. No people, no cafes, nothing is open. I'm not a big foodie, so having a cafe on every corner is not a deal-braker for me. And I'd swap the buzz of Oxford Street (which I have to battle through twice a day at rush hour no less) for something a little quieter in a heartbeat. I love wandering around the empty streets over the weekend, discovering new places and revisiting ones that I know well.
