This was one of those seeing snow for the time kind of moments. For me, the aurora borealis was not really high up on the Iceland to-do list. I didn’t plan any extra time for it, and didn’t stay anywhere special, outside the city for it like most people do. But the truth is, you don’t need to go outside the city to see the northern lights. I went out onto the beach, and headed for the lighthouse form where I had a great view of both the Reykjavik lights and the aurora in the sky.
Pictures don’t so this experience justice. In pictures it just looks green. In real life think of it like green grains of sand being blown around in the wind. And while all of that is happening they have what looks like waves of electricity running though and lighting them up. Go. See. Take a sandwich with you. That is all.

So much love for Iceland right now!!! Maybe we should shoot for a long weekend sometime? Lets talk more about this – need to wait for the weather to pick up a bit so around spring onwards is good. Right now it’s cold, dark and un-drivable. xxx
